Majel Barrett Roddenberry, was born Majel Lee Hudec, a Columbus, Ohio native. She met Gene Roddenberry in 1964, when she appeared on “The Lieutenant”, A Marine Corp drama set at Camp Pendleton in California, starring Gary Lockwood and Robert Vaughn.
Majel portrayed “Number One”, the strong female First Officer aboard the USS Enterprise in the first pilot of “Star Trek” called “The Cage”. The pilot did not sell. However an unprecedented order of a second pilot, minus “Number One”, and a new captain, was made!

Actress Majel Barrett, with a blonde wig, went in for the part of Christine Chapel in the episode “What Little Girls Are Made Of”, and surprising all, was hired!
August 6, 1969, Gene and Majel were married in Japan. They had one child, a son, Eugene Wesley Roddenberry Jr. Known as Rod.
Ms. Barrett-Roddenberry remained a vital part of the Star Trek phenomena. It’s her voice as the Federation Computers. In the Next Generation, and Deep Space 9, she was the flamboyant Lwaxanna Troi!!
In 1996 Majel guest starred on “Babylon 5” as Lady Morella in “Point Of No Return”. Diving into Gene’s store of projects, she produced the series “Andromeda” and “Earth: Final Conflict”. On EFC, Majel portrayed Dr. Julianne Belman.
For many years, Ms. Barrett-Roddenberry made convention appearances all over the world, both as an on-stage talent, and behind the dealer’s table of her company, “Lincoln Enterprise”. Majel was often found at the table, signing autographs and meeting and talking to the fans. I, like many other fans, had the opportunity to have met and spoken to her on several occasions throughout the years.
The First Lady of Star Trek’s life ended privately and quietly at her home at 12:27 a.m., at her Bel Air Home on December 18, 2008 of Leukemia.
A public Memorial Service was held on January 4, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills. Attending by family, friends, fellow cast members, and fans.
